Sterling Elmore is Managing Director for Public Affairs at Bolton-St. Johns, where he leverages his political acumen and government relations expertise to help clients successfully navigate New York’s complex legislative and policy environments, build lasting coalitions, and shape narratives that move decision-makers. He is an effective advocate for his clients’ diverse interests — collaborating closely with lawmakers, executive staff, and state agencies to deliver tangible outcomes. Sterling’s nuanced understanding of New York’s political dynamics and his strategic insight into policy development enable him to anticipate challenges, seize opportunities, and influence policy decisions beneficial to his clients.

A former Senior Advisor to Vice President Kamala Harris in the White House, he most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor to Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff during the 2024 Harris for President campaign. Sterling is a veteran of four presidential campaigns with more than a decade of experience advising top leaders across government, business, and philanthropy — including former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and philanthropist Laurene Powell Jobs. He is known for building dynamic teams and leading high-level public engagement strategies, and has cultivated trusted relationships that span politics, government, and the private sector.

Originally from Lonoke, Arkansas, Sterling earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and History from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
